Watch ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic Sing About Underpants on ‘Wallykazam!’ Cartoon
“Weird Al” Yankovic, the master of musical mockery, has penned satirical songs about all sorts of strange topics, from taco grandes and Beverly Hillbillies to living in an Amish paradise and word crimes. Now, for the first time ever, the Mandatory Fun singer is tackling a very serious issue: Underpants.
“Weird Al” will guest voice on an upcoming episode of Nickelodeon’s preschool vocabulary-building series Wallykazam!, and Rolling Stone has your first look and listen at Yankovic’s “Wizard Jeff” teaching kids the word “underpants.” “Weird Al” will guest on the episode titled “Mustache Day,” which will premiere on Nickelodeon on October 28th at 10:30 a.m.
“I asked my agent to get me as many voiceover gigs as possible where I get to repeatedly say the word ‘underpants’ – so Wallykazam! was a natural fit,” Yankovic tells Rolling Stone.
Wallykazam! follows the adventures of a troll named Wally Trollman and his pet dragon Norville. Each episode, Wally learns a new set of magic words that start with a certain letter. Yankovic’s Wizard Jeff is Wally’s neighbor and his magical idol, and in this clip, they deliver a surprisingly catchy song about underwear.
Yankovic isn’t the only rocker this year who stepped into a recording studio and got animated. In March, Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ bassist Flea stopped by the Disney Junior cartoon Sheriff Callie’s Wild West to voice a troublemaking cat dubbed “the Milk Bandit.” Then in June, Ozzy Osbourne brought his unmistakable voice to Nickelodeon’s popular Bubble Guppies series to play Sid Fishy, “a rock and roll fish who loves being rotten.”
