Games of the Day: Palisade Prep holds off Solomon Schechter

Adrian Szkolar here filling in for Josh. Below is my gamer on Palisade Prep’s win over Solomon Schechter on senior night, along with the best of the rest and the scoreboard:

Palisade Prep saw seven seniors score in a 58-55 win over visiting Solomon Schechter on on Seniur Night Tuesday.

One of them, Maliq Hooks, led the way with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

“It was very special for them,” Palisade Prep coach Sean Stahn said. “My first year teaching was when the school opened, when they were sixth graders, so I’ve known them my entire teaching career.”

Palisade Prep led 26-22 at halftime, and broke away in the third quarter, outscoring Solomon Schechter 17-9 in the third quarter. The Lions managed to close the gap in the fourth quarter, but were never able to take the lead.

Jason Scheff had a game-high 25 points, 15 of them coming in the fourth quarter, for Solomon Schechter.

“Schechter was definitely a scrappy team, those kids played with incredible heart,” Stahn said. “We’re focused on winning the rest of our league games and getting a rematch with Hamilton for the league championship.”

Best of the rest: George Kirby had 21 points and Drew Abate chipped in 19 points for Rye in a 66-49 win at Port Chester. … Justin Mayers had 17 points for Hastings in a 52-42 win over visiting Clark Academy. … Philip Ladson had 21 points for Yonkers Montessori in a 59-48 win over visiting Biondi.
