Institute for excellence list out, 90.8% cut-off for Maths

In all, 1,230 students figured in the first list of allotment issued by Institute for Excellence in Higher Education (IEHE). List was released on Saturday where cut-off in almost all subjects was higher compared to last year.

BHOPAL: In all, 1,230 students figured in the first list of allotment issued by Institute for Excellence in Higher Education (IEHE). List was released on Saturday where cut-off in almost all subjects was higher compared to last year.
Highest cut-off witnessed in mathematics subject with 90.8% for general category.
According to in charge, Anil Pathak, college has 980 seats in the first round.
“We had received 2,600 applications in the first round,” said Pathak.
Last year cut-off for mathematics was 87.6% for general category. “For the first round around 1,200 students had above 80% marks. It means students with higher percentage in Class 12 are keen to take admission in our college,” Pathak said.
Asked the reason of selecting more students than number of seats, Pathak said, “Our experience is that few students do not turn up as they possibly choose other institutes too. In such a situation, students in waiting list can get an opportunity.”
Physics was the second subject with a high cut-off. This year cut-off for physics was 89.4% and against 84.6% last year. Likewise, commerce also witnessed a high cut-off with 89% as against 87.6% last year.

Cut-off in chemistry also witnessed a steep hike this year 87.8% being cut-off for chemistry with mathematics as against 76.4% last year. Cut-off in chemistry with food science this year is 83.4% while for chemistry with bio-tech, cut-off is 84.8%.
Cut-off for electronics is 84.8%, while it was 77% last year. For biotechnology, cut-off this year is 86.4%.
Arts subjects also witnessed a jump in cut-off this year. In English literature, this year cut-off is 77.3%as against 77.7% last year.
Students shortlisted in first list will have to deposit fee at institute on June 17 and June 19. Second list will be released on June 22. For this, students will have to deposit fee in college on June 24 and June 26. Final list will be released on June 28.
In all, 10% seats are reserved for students from out of state. Around 70 students from other states figured in the first list.
