A second lawsuit against new abortion law is heading to court this morning.

In just a few hours, an Oklahoma County judge will be hearing arguments to block a new abortion law from going into effect.

The new lawsuit challenges the law that was passed by legislators earlier this year. The law restricts the use of abortion inducing drugs in our state.

It requires the drugs to be administered only in accordance with US Food and Drug Administration protocol.

A Tulsa medical clinic claims this would prohibit the use of the drugs in ways that make make medical abortions safer, faster and less expensive. They claim it would also ban medical abortions after 49 days of pregnancy, which is 21 days sooner than what is practiced now.

A similar bill was signed into law in 2011, but that measure was declared unconstitutional by the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

This is the second lawsuit filed just this past month in response to the new abortion law.

The law is set to take effect on November 1st.
