British actor Idris Elba is hot property right now, and not just in Hollywood. After the success of the biographical movie “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom,” the actor has seen many offers being thrown his way. The latest is a role for a remake of the classic tale of King Arthur.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Elba is at the moment in talks to star in the new Guy Ritchie-directed movie about King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Elba is being courted for the role of Bedivere, Arthur's father's right-hand man, the one responsible for teaching the future king the ways of war.

Interestingly, Elba is being courted for his role even before the lead role of Arthur has been cast, hinting that the producers really want him for the part. Gossip from behind the scenes indicates that casting for the main part will begin in August.

The script for the upcoming project is being written by Joby Harold and it seems to be a retelling of the classic tale of King Arthur, his kingdom of Camelot and his famous Knights of the Round Table.

Apart from this possible role in the medieval adventure film, Idris is also poised to lend his voice to the tiger Shere Khan in the Disney “The Jungle Book” animation, as well as to star in the thriller “Bastille Day.”
