Even though it's likely that Caroline Forbes will find love in Season 7 of "The Vampire Diaries," the blonde vampire will also struggle to pick up the pieces of her life as she continues to mourn the loss of her mother.

While speaking at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con roundtable interviews, actress Candice Accola opened up about the mental and emotional state that her character will be in when the new season kicks off on Oct. 8.

"Caroline's more focused on trying to mend her broken heart from her mother's death," she said, reports ShowBizJunkies. "Her main goal is to keep a friendship with Stefan and to distract herself. She's trying to also combat the heretics and Lily and she's very involved in that drama. We're going to see how the town of Mystic Falls gets to be where it is, which we got a glimpse of at the end of season six. So, Caroline will be very busy."

The actress also dropped spoilers about the progress between Caroline and Stefan's slow-moving romance as she begins to fall for him.

"It will definitely a little bit more challenging than Caroline anticipated to figure out what kind of 'ship' she has with Stefan (Paul Wesley), whether it's a friendship or a relationship. So we're going to see her struggle being able to play it cool."

Accola went on to confirm that it is unlikely that Caroline will follow in her mother's footsteps and go into law enforcement.

"I don't see Caroline putting on a badge anytime soon," said Accola.

Instead, she revealed that Matt will step up to take on the role as the town sheriff.

"We're going to see that Matt is more the one who's falling in line and taking over for Sheriff Forbes, which is nice. We know how long the show has been on, but it's nice to see the characters' evolution as well, that he's kind of becoming grown up and representing the humans of Mystic Falls in such a new way."

When asked if there is any hope for Caroline to reunite with Klaus, Accola answered saying, "Not at this point." She added that "I don't know if Caroline would want to go visit Klaus but I know everyone else wants her to. But at this point, no."

Executive Producer Julie Plec also unveiled teasers about the upcoming season, revealing that the show will basically be telling stories in two different simultaneous timelines.

"We're actually picking up all over the place," Plec told Entertainment Weekly. "We're picking up a little bit in the future, we're picking up a lot in the future, we're doing a little bit of a time shuffle as we launch into the season. One timeline is set very much in the future and the other timeline will catch us up to the events of the final scene of last season."

The Season 7 premiere of "The Vampire Diaries" will air on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
