Rick Dees Makes a Comeback

After a seven-year absence, Rick Dees is returning to morning radio.

For 23 years, Dees was the guy that woke LA up in the morning. The guy whose name is synonymous with morning radio will be competing with his former home KISS-FM and Ryan Seacrest. He left the station in February 2004.

"I'm an idiot, I should have stayed."

Radio Dean Dees has been busy lately rehearsing, recording, testing and practicing gags that will be part of his new show that starts Wednesday on HOT 92.3.

"I'm just over the moon excited," Dees said.

But station managers didn't give the long time DJ an automatic green light.

"They actually had to test. And this is humbling, they tested to see if people would listen to Rick Dees in the morning," Dees said. "Luckily the test came back very positive."

On 5am Wednesday, Dees will debut. He says he's not nervous returning to the airwaves.

"It's not nerves as much as anxious, it's ready…'listo,'" he said. "Here we go."
