“Lost” star Matthew Fox and “The Conjuring’s” Patrick Wilson will join Kurt Russell and Richard Jenkins in the violent Western “Bone Tomahawk,” which writer S. Craig Zahler is directing for Caliber Media, the company announced Wednesday.
Peter Sarsgaard and Timothy Olyphant were previously set to star, while Magnolia Pictures had been nearing a deal to distribute a previous iteration of the project. Domestic rights are available again, and they’ll be represented by CAA and UTA, with Celluloid Dreams handling foreign sales.

In “Bone Tomahawk,” four men attempt to rescue a group of captives from a band of cannibalistic troglodytes that live beyond the edge of civilization.
Wilson will play Arthur O’Dwyer, a driven and thoughtful cowboy whose rise to the foreman position of a cattle outfit is interrupted by an unfortunate accident that reshapes his life in unforeseen ways.
Fox will play John Brooder, the eloquent, albeit inscrutable gentleman whose dark inclinations have put him and his polished weapons at the very edge of the western frontier.
Caliber Media partners Dallas Sonnier and Jack Heller will produce, having arranged the majority of the financing through a deal with The Fyzz Facility’s Wayne Marc Godfrey, Robert Jones and David Gilbery, who will serve as executive producers.

Zahler is a novelist and screenwriter by trade. His crime novel “Mean Business on North Ganson Street” will be published next week by St. Martin’s Press, and is already being developed into a film at Warner Bros. with Leonardo DiCaprio attached to star and produce. Zahler’s debut novel, “A Congregation of Jackals,” was nominated for both the Peacemaker and the Spur award, and was followed by his critically acclaimed horror Western, “Wraiths of the Broken Land.”
Russell, Wilson, and Fox are all represented by CAA. Jenkins is repped by Gersh. Russell is managed by Rick Nicita. Wilson is additionally repped by Anonymous Content and attorney Gretchen Rush. Fox is repped by Management 360 and attorney Stewart Brookman. Zahler is repped by UTA.
