BEREA, Ky. (FOX 56) – Students in Berea will have to wait a few more days for their first day of school.

Berea Independent Schools were scheduled to start classes Thursday but due to a rise in COVID-19 cases across the district the first day of school has been pushed back to Monday, Aug. 22.

A letter to parents was sent home Wednesday letting them know several staff members would be out the first few days of school.

Berea Independent is planning to make up those days on Nov. 21 and 22.
