Apple hasn't exactly confirmed the release of the iPod Touch sixth generation, but that hasn't stopped the rumor mill from trying to figure just what the new iPod Touch has to offer, especially given the anticipation of fans and tech enthusiasts, Christian Today  reported.

Reports already appeared last year that the iPod Touch 6th Gen was hitting stores two years after the release of its predecessor, with speculations even pointing at either a September or an October launch. However, the months passed and Apple instead decided to go with the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Mini 3, and iPad Mini 2, with no iPod Touch in sight.

It's unknown why Apple is holding back on a new iPod Touch, though speculations have it that it was due to the high demand of the iPhone 6. Then again, as many are aware, Apple is not usually forthcoming with information until they're absolutely sure of what products they're releasing.

Still, that hasn't stopped speculations, and they continued all the more as months passed and Apple continues to push out iDevices, save for an iPod Touch.

Based on what we know so far from speculations, though, what does the iPod Touch 6th Gen have to offer?

  • Two models in a myriad of colors: Apple has been consistent in providing options for their consumers, and the iPod Touch 6th Gen is no different. Rumors have it that it may come out in two models, a 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch, and will come in choices of colors, such as pink, yellow, red, silver, blue and space grey, according to JobsnHire.

  • Take a tip from the iPhone 6: A lot of reports claimed that the iPod Touch 6th Gen is going to be fashioned similar to the powerful and popular iPhone 6, and will sport nearly the same components and specs. This may indicate an A8 processor, a 1.4 GHz dual core Cyclone CPU, 1GB of RAM and choices between 16 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB of storage, according to Gospel Herald.

  • Never before seen features: Previous reports have it that Apple head Tim cook wanted to incorporate the 4-inch Retina Display to the new iPod Touch, something never before seen with the iPod line. Not only that, but there were also talks of including the Apple Pay among many other new and unique features and apps and, if Apple really wanted to go above and beyond, possibly an A9 processor instead of the A8, according to Cross Map.

Since none of these are set in stone, one can only hope that Apple releases official information soon. The company is already getting ready for the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain in March, so an announcement, or even an update, on the status of the iPod Touch 6th Gen may happen at the event, with a release possibly following later on this year.
