Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho has called himself a football fanatic, who always watches the game’s legendary players in order to add to his arsenal of skills.

The 22-year-old joined the Reds two years ago from Inter Milan and has become an important part of Brendan Rodgers’ squad. He has appeared in 18 Premier League matches this season and has contributed two goals and an equal number of assists.

"I am a football fanatic. I love everything about it, both playing and watching. During my spare time I try to watch as many games as possible”, Coutinho told the club site.

The Brazil international further added that he counts compatriots Ronaldinho and Kaka among his idols and doesn’t miss any opportunity to watch their videos in his spare time.

"If I'm on the internet I'll be looking at videos of players such as Ronaldinho and studying the way he played. He is one of my heroes; Kaka too.

"I try to do all I can on the training pitch to get better every day. I'll watch DVDs of games and try to see where I did something wrong or could have made a better choice."

Liverpool’s number 10 also revealed that his insatiable appetite to improve his game sees him talking to coaching staff and even his family members for advice.

"I speak to the coaching staff and the manager too. Or I'll chat to my father or my wife about my game because advice from everyone can help."

Liverpool will hope Coutinho continues his upward trajectory as he matures and helps them deliver their long awaited first Premier league title.
