PLATTE CITY, Mo. (AP) – A special prosecutor says he won’t press charges against a former Kansas City councilman who had been accused of choking a one-time aide.Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd said Thursday he found insufficient evidence to support the aide’s claims that she was assaulted by Michael Brooks last November in Brooks’ office.Kansas City police had investigated the matter, leaving Zahnd to determine whether charges would be filed.Zahnd was appointed the case’s special prosecutor because an assistant prosecutor in the Jackson County prosecutor’s office is planning to run for Brooks’ 5th District council seat.
