The single-camera comedy centers on Michael Sturges (Ben Aldridge), a rock star who, at age 30, makes the unexpected choice to quit his band and go back to college.
Gallagher (Togetherness, Covert Affairs) will play Professor Zaring, Tate University’s most respected and feared instructor with whom Michael has a contentious relationship. The role brings Gallagher back into the Fox family after his role on The O.C. He’s repped by Gersh and John Carrabino.
Thirlby (Juno, The Wedding Ringer) is set as Gabrielle, Zaring’s teaching assistant. The casting reunites her with Jeremy Garelick, who will direct the DeTour pilot. The role marks Thirlby’s first broadcast pilot after feature roles in Dredd and No Strings Attached. She’s repped by CAA, 3 Arts and Hansen Jacobson.
