The former owner of a Cumru Township used car dealership faces probation after pleading guilty Thursday to a $950,000 fraud scheme.

Troy E. Wible, who had owned Second Chance Auto Sales on Lancaster Pike, was sentenced to 15 years of probation by Berks County President Judge Paul M. Yatron.

Wible, 50, of the 500 block of Pintail Lane, Exeter Township, was charged in November 2013 with selling vehicles on consignment without reimbursing the original owners. Police said he also took money for titles and transfers without submitting the necessary paperwork to PennDOT.

Wible apologized for his actions during the hearing. His attorney, Elizabeth M. Ebner, said he had no criminal background but turned to the scheme when he was having trouble paying medical bills.

“Mr. Wible found himself in a very bad position,” she said, adding that he cooperated with the investigation and has accepted responsibility for the crime.
