Infinisource, a national leader in human capital management, has awarded two $1,000 scholarships for the 10th year in a row. The winners are Megan Karney of Quincy and Sabeek Pradhan of Coldwater.

One scholarship is awarded to a relative of an Infinisource employee, and the other to a Branch County resident. Applicants submitted a short essay on the Infinisource credo: “Every person I come in contact with is the single most important person in that moment.” A committee that has no affiliation to the students chose the winners based on their essays as well as academic achievements and extracurricular activities.

The Branch County scholarship was awarded to Sabeek Pradhan, a graduating senior at Hillsdale Academy who plans to attend Stanford University this fall. He is the son of Doctors Kamal and Sabeena Pradhan.

Pradhan will complete his high school education with near perfect grades and standardized test scores. His headmaster called him the most capable student he has ever taught and believes he has a bright future as a leader in economic and political institutions. In addition to his academic achievements, Pradhan is an accomplished pianist and a member of the boys varsity cross-country and track teams. He was recognized as a 2012 U.S. Presidential Scholar Semifinalist and is a National Merit Scholarship Winner.

“I will get nowhere if I merely dabble without devoting all my energy to what I am doing at the moment,” wrote Pradhan in his application. “In all my endeavors, whether it be a laser-like focus on my studies, the grueling sweat of practice, or even just giving a good friend my complete attention, I go all in.”

Megan Karney is the winner of the scholarship awarded to a family member of an Infinisource employee. She is the daughter of Dave and Beth Karney. Karney is the niece of Jean Drake, who is a FBA Claims Processor at Infinisource. Karney is a graduating senior at Quincy High School and will enroll in Michigan State University this fall.

Karney is ranked at the top of her class at Quincy High School and is a student council and National Honors Society member. Her principal said he was fortunate to have the opportunity to teach her in the classroom and coach her on the track and field. Outside the classroom, Karney is a two-time captain of the varsity cross country team and received varsity soccer All-District honors.

“Companies like Infinisource show the importance of not only believing in respect, but showing it towards others, which is something everyone should strive to do,” explained Karney in her application. “Respect. It’s something the world could use a little more of. Fortunately, at places like Infinisource, it thrives and lives.”

“Among the dozens of amazing applications, we strongly believe these two students deserved the scholarships,” said Gary Hart, Infinisource President. “Just as we pride our work as a nationally recognized leader of human capital management, these students demonstrated similar values of excellence and commitment to their academics. It is rewarding to support the community in Coldwater and give our local students the tools they need to succeed.”

Infinisource has awarded a total of $20,000 in scholarships to local students to support high education in the last 10 years. The scholarships are funded in part by the contributions from 200 Infinisource employees during fundraising activities throughout the year. The company matches the employee contribution with company dollars.
