Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 5 & Unification Blu-rays
Posted August 20, 2013 12:10 AM by
Paramount and CBS Home Entertainment have announced the Blu-ray release of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 5, and revealed some of the special features that will be included on the 6-disc set. Like previous seasons, the Blu-ray edition of Season 5 will feature a newly remastered 1080p video presentation, a DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround track and a variety of extras.
Paramount and CBS also announced the Blu-ray release of Stark Trek: The Next Generation, Unification, the epic two-part story seamlessly unified into one feature length presentation. Leonard Nimoy reprises his iconic role as Spock and joins the crew of the Enterprise in this fan-favorite double episode! When the Federation calls for help in locating an ambassador suspected of defecting, Picard is troubled to learn that Spock is the one who has vanished. Seeking information from Spock's ailing father, Sarek, and unlikely help from the Klingons, Picard and his crew find the ambassador pursuing a personal mission on Romulus: a Vulcan/Romulan reunification. But though the Romulans claim to support the same goal, their motives are not what they seem.
Both Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 5 and Unification are available for pre-order on Amazon.com and arrive on Blu-ray on November 19th. Season 5 special features include:
Requiem: A Remembrance of Star Trek: The Next Generation
I love this blue cover! Shiny, steel blue...sorry I'm so blue in the face at the moment. Season 5 is one of my all time favorite seasons and part of it is Leonard Nimoy's Unification episode. I look forward to more of CBS Digital's awesome work. This release will be top notch I'm sure.
Who is buying this double episodes blu-ray's anyway? If you buy the seasons you already have those episodes anyway and if you interested in those double episodes blu-ray's you missing out on a lot of other great episodes so why bother.
@homernt Some people like watching the double episodes like they are watching a movie, without any change of episode, or closing and opening credits in between.
I use to have all the double episodes on VHS in the same uninterrupted format and it was a good way to relive the series when I didn't have the time to sit down and rewatch all seven seasons and it felt like I was watching a series of movies rather than a TV series.
Darn, no feature-length version of "Time's Arrow"? I know "Unification" is an important episode, but I wish Paramount would have continued the pattern of season finale/premiere releases :/
I'll only get Unification IF there is exclusive Bonus Features like Best of Both Worlds and Redemption!
Was there any reason given as to why they chose Unification over Time's Arrow?
Does anyone think that they will still announce Time's Arrow?
I too like these special combined season spanning episodes however I hope that Paramount is smart enough not to offer the two parter involving Mark Twain and Data's head. One of the most boring and predictable stories in all of Star Trek's many seasons and incarnations. It had nothing at all to make me want the new season to begin. A big bore.
Bring on Time's Arrow Stand-Alone Disk!
Also, where can I get the Clear Plastic Outer SlipCover Protector for these Blu-Ray sets like The Best of Both Worlds had?
I want more of them because my Slipcovers are starting to angle...
I am excited that we're now into season 5 release for TNG.
I am quite sad there is still no DS9 or Voyager.
Having season 2 of Enterprise is... pleasant.
But man, DS9 and TNG together will make me poop my pants with joy!
