Swoon! George Clooney declared his love for his fiancee, Amal Alamuddin, while speaking at the star-studded Celebrity Fight Night in Florence, Italy, this past Sunday, Sept. 7. New footage from Clooney’s speech was posted to YouTube on Thursday, Sept. 11.
“I want to thank all of you,” Clooney, 53, says in the clip, while accepting the Andrea Bocelli Humanitarian Award on stage at the Palazzo Vecchio. “Because, for the last dozen years or so, you’ve made me an honorary citizen. I have enjoyed every single moment of it.”
Clooney famously owns a property, the Villa Oleandra in Laglio on Italy’s Lake Como where he is frequently seen vacationing. “I have to tell you,” he continues at Fight Night, which was attended by Sophia Loren, Lionel Richie, Reba McEntire, and dancing pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy. “I’ve met my bride-to-be in Italy, and I will be married in Italy, soon, in a couple of weeks… In Venice of all places.”
The Oscar winner concludes his speech by professing his love for Alamuddin, 36. “In closing I would just like to say to my bride-to-be, Amal, that I love you very much. And I can’t wait to be your husband.”
Clooney proposed to the London-based barrister this past April. Us Weekly first revealed that the couple planned to marry this fall. “He’d marry her today if he could,” a source told Us, “but he wants to give her a dream wedding.”
