With Teresa Giudice standing silently by, Melissa Gorga faced one big confrontation after another on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey." It started with Melissa's former best friend, Jan, who had apparently been telling people that Melissa was cheating on her husband with an ex.
“You used me as an alibi," Jan told Melissa. "I’m done lying for you.”
The argument continued for a bit, with Jan saying that Melissa earned an Academy Award for her lying. When it ended, Melissa declared their friendship "done." But the drama wasn't done for Melissa. Next up was Penny, a woman who had never even met Melissa. This fact didn't stop her from apparently talking to the press about Melissa.
Buddy TV's Jennifer Lind-Westbrook wondered why Teresa was just standing there and doing nothing. "Teresa, who promised to have Melissa's back, just stands silently watching the exchange," she wrote. "Teresa justifies bailing on her sister-in-law by stating that Jan and Melissa have a history together, and they need to hash things out. She figures she only needs to get involved if her name is brought up.” Because that's how having somebody's back works in her mind, apparently.
But The Stir's Julie Ryan Evans thinks there might be another reason for her silence. "Someone is pulling the puppet strings, and who else would have a motive other than Teresa?" she wrote. "I think it's possible/probable that she has at least something to do with the whole thing. Of course, it also wouldn't surprise me at all if some of the rumors about Melissa are true.”
