Reed honored with Kiwanis International award

Ohio

LANCASTER – Kiwanis Club of Lancaster honored Charles “Chuck” Reed with the Kiwanis International’s George F. Hixson Fellowship award during the club’s regular weekly luncheon Wednesday.

In 1983, the Kiwanis International Foundation established the George F. Hixson Fellowship, named for Kiwanis International’s first president. Kiwanis International was founded in 1915, and the Lancaster Club started in 1919.

Lancaster Kiwanis traditionally bestow this award and recognition to members who have unselfishly given of themselves to the community and club. Lancaster Kiwanis contributed $1,000 to the Kiwanis International Foundation to honor Reed, recognizing him for his unparalleled service.

Reed has been a member of Lancaster Kiwanis since 1952 and served as its president in 1955. Reed, active in Lancaster Kiwanis Little League baseball, served on the league’s board for many years and his guidance continues to be sought. Reed served as a scorekeeper after 48 years.

Kiwanis Club of Lancaster meets 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays in The Lodge in downtown Lancaster.
