The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a move at the trade deadline, but it didn't involve the name everyone expected.

The Bucs traded starting safety Mark Barron to the St. Louis Rams in exchange for a fourth- and sixth-round pick just before the NFL's Tuesday 4 p.m. EST trade deadline. Wide receiver Vincent Jackson and running back Doug Martin were both rumored to be among the players on the move, but both are staying put.

Major Wright is expected to take Barron's spot on defense.

Barron, whom the Bucs selected No. 7 overall in 2012, has played in all seven games for Tampa Bay (1-6) this season, ranking second on the team in tackles with 48. In 37 career starts, Barron has recorded just three interceptions, a sub par total for the former Alabama star.

In an unrelated deal, the Buccaneers also sent linebacker Jonathan Casillas and a 2015 sixth-round pick to the New England Patriots. In return, the Bucs received the Patriots' 2015 fifth-round selection.

Tampa Bay now has a total of eight picks in the 2015 NFL Draft.
