Singer songwriter Bo Bruce has finally spoken out about her relationship with Irish musician Danny O’Donoghue.

Bo (29) appeared on the first series of BBC1 talent show The Voice in 2012 and her chemistry with Danny was obvious.

At the time, Bo discovered her mother was dying of pancreatic cancer and Danny gushed that she was his “inspiration” as she would spend every waking moment not in the studio at her mother’s bedside in hospital.

Bo was ultimately named as runner-up to Leanne Mitchell on the show, and she denied that there was any romance between her and Danny (34).

However now she has revealed that there was a “thing for sure”:

“My mum was dying and there was a spark between us. After the live shows – before Mum died – we hung out once or twice and we snogged. We were both going through stuff. He wasn’t my boyfriend but possibly, in another world, there might have been something.’

Bo, real name Lady Catherine Anna Brudenell-Bruce, is no longer on speaking terms with The Script frontman, who she labelled a “w****r”.

“He just said some s**t in the papers and I was hurt. It was like he was saying I was enjoying the attention I was getting and he was happy to go along with it because he wanted my single to do well. I wanted to be sick, because it was killing me. My mum was dying and I did have a connection with him, and he definitely did with me, but he wouldn’t own up to it,” she said.

“I felt humiliated when he seemed to be saying, ‘It was all made up for her career.’ I thought, ‘What sort of human could do that when someone’s mum is dying?’ I felt embarrassed. So I sent him a text. I don’t think I wrote, ‘W****r’, but something like, ‘Not cool, buddy.’”

Bo, the daughter of the Earl of Cardigan, was forced to come face-to-face with Danny last year.

“It was awkward,” she admits. “We didn’t cross paths until we were on camera then they edited it so there was a whole bit of us looking at each other.”

It was revealed this week that Bo has obtained a restraining order against her estranged father after he threatened to give “untrue tasty dirt” about her to a newspaper during a long-running family feud.

According to court reports the Earl told her he was co-operating with a tabloid newspaper and taunted her by asking whether he should tell reporters about “the little scorpion that I have as a daughter”.

Details of the Earl’s “abusive” and “threatening” behaviour towards his daughter were disclosed in a High Court judgement earlier this week.
