The crash occurred about 11:08 p.m. near Century Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol. The victim was traveling southbound on the freeway when he lost control of the motorcycle and struck the center divider, the CHP said.

He was then ejected onto the northbound side of the freeway, where he was struck by a Metro Transit Authority bus that was carrying about 50 people. The motorcyclist, identified by L.A. County coroner’s officials as 28-year-old Christopher Yarborough of Los Angeles, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Four northbound lanes and three southbound lanes were temporarily closed as debris was removed from the freeway.

An investigation into the cause of the collision was underway.
