Former assistant fire chief in Ritchie County arrested on sexual assault charges

PENNSBORO, W. Va. —A former assistant fire chief with the Pennsboro Volunteer Fire Department has been arrested on charges of sexual assault.

James Donald Robinson Jr., 29, is alleged to have had sex with a 15-year-old girl multiple times during his tenure with the VFD, according to the West Virginia State Police.

He faces five counts of third degree sexual assault, with more charges potentially pending and was let go from his position following the arrest.

The State Police’s investigation into the case is ongoing.

Robinson is currently being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of the $50,000 bail set in Ritchie County Court.
