Gambling raids at Mount Vernon and Citronelle nightclubs nab 6 suspects

MOBILE, Alabama -- U.S. Marshals and sheriff's deputies seized several gambling machines at two nightclubs in northern Mobile County Friday, sweeping six suspects into jail.

Acting on a warrant, law enforcement officials raked in $20,000 in cash proceeds and 21 gambling machines at Kali's Bar on Highway 45 and Club Boo Joe's on West Coy Smith Road, according to the Mobile County Sheriff's Office.

Those arrested during the raid were taken into custody for outstanding warrants, drugs or weapons charges, police said. Each of the jailed suspects were at the establishment on Coy Smith Road.

Gambling machines, which are illegal in Alabama, are normally destroyed by police.
