Savoy, Texas --  U.S. Army Sergeant First Class (Retired) William “Bill” Teague passed away Saturday, April 02, 2011 at Texas Health Presbyterian WNJ surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 29, 1940 in Denison, Texas the son of Truman and Hester Erwin Teague. He married Gloria Jean Moore on November 25, 1960 in Sherman, Texas.

Bill attended Denison Schools and worked for the Coco-Cola Company in Sherman, TX and entered the Army National Guard and was called to active duty in 1958 during the Cuban Missile Crisis, where he served as President John F. Kennedy’s communication specialist. During his 23 years in the U.S. Army, he served in many countries as well as in many states before retiring in 1981. One of the highlights of his military career was his 4-year stint as a Drill Instructor.

 

After retirement from the Army, Bill worked for the First National Bank of Bells/Savoy, the Savoy I.S.D. and eventually retiring from the US Postal Service in Denison, TX. Since retirement he enjoyed spending time with his large family and supporting the Denison Yellow Jackets football teams. He recently served as the Chaplin for the American Legion Post in Bonham, TX.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Mullican-Little Funeral Chapel in Bells/Savoy, TX. Dr. Chet Haney of Parkside Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery.

Bill is survived by his wife of 50 years Gloria Jean Teague, son Billy Teague, Sr. and wife Laurie of Sherman, daughter Cathy Daniel and husband David of Sherman, grandchildren Billy Teague Jr. and wife Kimberly of Denison, Kristy Fortune and husband J.R. of Bonham, Phillip Daniel, Josh and Mandy Teague all of Sherman, great granddaughter Haylee Teague of Denison, brothers Truman Teague of Denison and James “Jim” Teague of Maryland, sister Mary “Sis” Bryan of Oklahoma City, OK and close family friends Pam Curry and Erin Boling.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Burris, Phillip Daniels, Josh Teague, J.R. Fortune, Billy Teague, Jr. and Clayton Craft.

The family would like to thank the First Baptist Church of Savoy, American Best Care Hospice, Vicki Harris, RN, Northeast Medical Home Health of Bonham.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday at Mullican-Little Funeral Home.
