Penguins sign Glass, lose Asham to Rangers

The Penguins have lost free agent winger Arron Asham to the New York Rangers.

Asham, who wanted to sign with the Penguins, was never given an offer by general manager Ray Shero. He was given a two-year, $2 million deal with the Rangers.

The Penguins lost another fourth-liner, Mike Rupp, to the Rangers last season.

Asham now has played with the every team in the Atlantic Division, including the Rangers, Penguins, Devils, Flyers and Islanders.

He played the past two seasons with the Penguins.

Moments after losing out on Asham, the Penguins signed a fourth-liner to replace him in Tanner Glass. A physical, shot-blocking forward, Glass played last season with Winnipeg and scored five goals.

He also has played for Vancouver and Florida. He signed a two-year deal with the Penguins valued at a total of $1.1 million.
