Close to two months after they called it quits, Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp were seen spending time together in New York on Wednesday, prompting fans to ask if they are getting back together.

Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp were spotted strolling through Manhattan and stopping by the Scholastic children's bookstore, according to a report from People.

In an interview with the Associated Press, via The Daily Mail, in September 26, the 63-year-old rocker said he was still hoping to get back with the 52-year-old "When Harry Met Sally" actress.

"I'm very happy with the time I've spent with Meg Ryan," John Mellencamp told the publication. "She's a beautiful girl and I know that I will never, ever, ever be with a funnier girl than her. Not gonna happen. I'm grateful for the three-and-a-half years we've been together."

Answering if there's a possibility for them to get back together, he said, "Nothing's over. I never say die for anything. Do you ever quit on anything?"

The rocker guested on the "Today" show the same day and was asked about the actress. "Meg's an angel," he said. "She's an angel sent to me, and I'm very happy. And, you know, nothing's over 'till it's over."

The couple reportedly split because they were unable to maintain the long distance relationship as Ryan continues to live in New York, while Mellencamp prefers to stay in his hometown of Bloomington, Indiana.

The musician told Rolling Stone in an interview in December 2013 about his distaste for living in the Big Apple. "I'm too sensitive to live there," he told the publication at the time. "I can't see poor people. I can't see the suffering. I can't see the trash on the streets...I'm not leaving Indiana. I'm going to die here."

Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp revealed they were a couple in 2010. They were both previously married and have children from their respective ex-partners.
