David Bowie, who has a $230 million net worth and a British Artist of the Year Award nominee, has turned down Coldplay front man Chris Martin's offer for a collaboration. During a video tribute to the legendary artist, Rolling Stone reported that Martin revealed at the inaugural BBC Music awards that his collaboration proposal was shunned because the track was not good enough.
"One time I sent him a song to ask him to sing on it. He called me and said, 'It's not one of your best,'" Martin admitted through NME. "He's got very high standards and I appreciate that. It inspires the rest of us to keep our standards high."
Meanwhile, David Bowie is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer and arranger with a $260 million fortune as listed by Celebrity Net Worth. For five decades, he has been a significant figure in the popular music realm. He is considered as an innovator for his unique vocals as well as the intellectual depth and diversity of his work.

In spite of the rejection by David Bowie, Coldplay had nothing but praise for Bowie's "The Next Day."
"When 'Where Are We Now?' came out I was staggered, and also annoyed," Martin said. "Like, 'Come on, it's not fair.' He's already got all these amazing songs and then this instant classic."
Though David Bowie turned Coldplay down, the band took comfort for the fact that the legendary singer too is no exemption for criticisms. According to Inquisitr, former Rolling Stones manager Loog Oldham dismissed Bowie's songs saying, "Old people make old music."
For 50 years, Bowie has been making music and is known for writing innovative, experimental work that is also commercially and critically successful. And though David Bowie rejected Coldplay, he is still considered as one of the most influential rock artists of all time.
