State of play: ABC News and CNN are both slated to host debates early next year in early primary states including New Hampshire and Iowa. The RNC has no affiliation with these, the organization said. Candidates asked the RNC for flexibility in addressing voters moving forward.

The university and CNN announced Thursday a GOP presidential primary debate will be held on Drake’s campus in Sheslow Auditorium on January 10, 2024. That’s just five days before the Iowa caucuses.

The fourth Republican presidential debate featured squabbling among four candidates: former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis,
