With Microsoft Cognitive Services you can build smarter and more engaging experiences that bring the knowledge of the web right into your app or website—all while interacting with users in a natural way across multiple languages.
In this tutorial, we show you how the capabilities of these intelligent services can be integrated into your experiences with just a few lines of code, so you can benefit from the same intelligence utilized by tech leaders across the industry.
Executive Vice President Dr. Harry Shum, head of Microsoft Research, shares how to use artificial intelligence and machine learning-based research from Microsoft Cognitive Services.
Watch this video to learn how to build 'smart' into your apps with the new collection of intelligence and knowledge APIs from Microsoft Project Oxford and Bing.
The Bing API family provides a similar experience to Bing.com by returning search results that are relevant to a specified query. Our most common APIs are Web Search, Image Search, Video Search, and News Search. In the Bing API V5 update, we introduced a host of new tools that allow developers to harness the power of Bing in the form of an API.
Watch this video to learn about these new features, and how to take advantage of these capabilities to light up your own scenarios.
The Windows 10 UWP map control is available across all Windows 10 devices (and coming to Xbox One in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update). The Bing Maps V8 control is a modern web map control that makes use of the HTML5 canvas to deliver high performance and rich new features. Performance tests have found that it renders data over 10 times faster than previous web versions of Bing Maps and also renders much larger data sets as well.
Take a look at the updates in the native Windows 10 UWP map control and the Bing Spatial Data Services, the newly released Bing Maps V8 control, and gain insight into new features currently under development.
In a world with ever-increasing amounts of connected 'things,' visual representations are often key to making informed decisions. Geospatial and temporal contexts provide us with additional dimensions to pivot and understand the world’s data.
Dive into the new features in Bing Maps and Spatial Data Services that allow people to manage and visualize geospatial data in the Microsoft Cloud—and make it accessible across devices.
Cortana is evolving from reminding users about things and events to helping them get things done. Cortana can now proactively surface your app to users in the right context, and provide your app with relevant information to facilitate action, making it easier than ever for users to interact with your app—or even complete tasks independently on the user's behalf.
In this video you’ll learn about Cortana’s new proactive capabilities, and how to add them to your existing Universal Windows Platform apps to increase engagement and discovery with minimal effort.
Currently, users jump between apps, devices, and different OS platforms throughout their day. This makes retaining users a tough problem to solve. Project Rome enables app developers to pivot on the devices, apps, platforms (Windows, Android, iOS) and the cloud. Now you can design apps around the user and create human-centric experiences that evolve with an understanding of the individual’s needs. Start discovering and identifying all cloud-connected or nearby devices your users come across on a daily basis. Use familiar APIs like LaunchURIAsync and App Services to build powerful experiences that seamlessly transition between screens and even platforms.
This video shows you how to drive http traffic to your app across devices and to your apps locally.
On episode 181 of the Windows Developer Show, hosts Ryan and Travis dive deep with Mujtaba Khambatti and Andre Furtado of Bing to talk business growth, developer tools, APIs, and so much more.
Microsoft's Chief Technical Evangelist, Steve Guggenheimer, and Chief Geek, John Shewchuk, drill deeper into the concepts explained in day 1 of //build by providing coding deep dives. See media and entertainment reinvention with Muzik Official's Bluetooth wireless drumsticks. Acumatica's use of Power BI illustrates how to rethink reporting. New open source projects Vorlon and Manifold.JS are introduced. David Treadwell and Kevin Gallo show how to build a universal Windows App, and give a peek at the code required to move Android and iOS apps forward. Joseph Sirosh describes the connected cow, talks about machine learning with March Madness and Genomics, and brought How-Old.Net to the mainstream. Briana Roberts and Aidan Brady introduce a Minecraft modding project to Visual Studio using Java.
Over the next five to ten years, we will see a profound shift in computing that will reshape our world. The changes ahead will be massive in scope and in scale, requiring the deep collaboration of teams of expert scientists and engineers to develop and refine new advances in computer science. Microsoft will participate in this tectonic shift in large part through the work of its research organization. This focus of this session is on the trends that will reshape computing and drive disruption, showcased through a series of discussions and demonstrations of several of Microsoft’s world-class researchers.
Windows 10 brings a converged, superset version of our existing phone and desktop map controls and location platforms (i.e. offline maps, better traffic data) in addition to new and exciting scenarios such as Streetside and real 3D imagery. In this session, we demonstrate how Windows itself is taking advantage of our maps platform in our Maps application and how you can easily delight your customers with maps in your Windows apps!
For years business and location intelligence have been two separate and distinct processes. With the rise of social media and big data these two areas have grown ever closer together. So much so that Microsoft now provides mapping tools in nearly every single one of its products. In this session we look at the various tools available for working with Location based Business Intelligence data. In addition, we look at how to create custom cross-platform apps that visualize business data on Bing Maps.
The leaders of the Cortana team share how developers can tap into Cortana on Windows 10 to make their Universal Windows apps more discoverable and drive deep user engagement. We share how extensibility fits into the overall Cortana vision and how your apps can take advantage of new voice command capabilities.
