The first meteor-hits-earth movie - solid...
This is the first movie (1979) to deal with the subject of a meteor hitting the earth and what the scenerio or consequences might be like. For its day, a very well done film. The acting is very good with performances by many well known experienced actors and actresses. By today's standards the... Read review on www.amazon.com

Soap Opera With Disaster Thrown In
To make this typical disaster movie a mini-series, they were kind of forced to turn it into a soap opera just to add in enough filler to make it work. Yeah, they did it. However, we got strapped with a bunch of hokey story threads that were typical 70's Towering Inferno/Poseidon Adventure/(place... Read review on www.amazon.com

The 1979 theatrical release "Meteor" has been routinely mentioned among the worst movies of all time. Thankfully, this is not a remake of "Meteor", but more of a reimagining of the same concept moved forward in time 30 years. The scenario is roughly the same. Earth is facing annihilation as a giant... Read review on www.amazon.com

This is one of those films that viewers either love or hate. Some get bogged down in the effects and dialog, and forget it was 1979, not 1999. Others can ignore the minor irritants and focus on the Oscar-nominated sound, and the stellar cast. How can a movie not be worth the time with Sean Connery... Read review on www.imdb.com

Good little film Meteor is, and it's one of the one's I saw with Connery in the lead not too long after giving up on Bond for good. Meteor may never go down in history as the best movie of it's type, but I think for those that even remember it, it deserves a place as the first film of it's kind.... Read review on www.amazon.com

This is an old "End of the World" film about an asteroid that is heading for Earth. The storyline for this movie was ingenious. The US and it's cold war Enemy the USSR work together to rid themselves of a common enemy, a killer asteroid. However the special effects couldn't keep up with the... Read review on www.imdb.com

As a person who loves disaster movies (in spite of it being a basically flawed genre), I could not hate this movie as much as most people seem to. It is a big budget disaster about a disaster and much about its construction is highly flawed, and yes the acting is mostly weak, and yes the effects... Read review on www.imdb.com

Let's see. George Pal told the same story in 1951's "When World's Collide". Almost fifty years later, "Deep Impact" and "Armageddon" would cover similar territory in 1998. Chronologically, "Meteor" falls in the middle, being released in 1979 when the "disaster epic" was on the wane. Billed at the... Read review on www.amazon.com

With the hoopla surrounding the 1998 releases of 'Armageddon' and 'Deep Impact', many have forgotten that Hollywood had done a previous version of the 'Asteroid on Collision Course with Earth' premise, the 1979 Samuel Z. Arkoff production of 'Meteor'. Panned when first released, the film is dated... Read review on www.amazon.com

"Meteor" has routinely drawn poor reviews from film critic, and it's easy to understand why. The star-heavy cast, including Sean Connery, Karl Malden, and Natalie Wood in one of her last screen appearances, seem to be going through the motions. The dialogue is heavy and forced. And the special... Read review on www.amazon.com
