Think "summer" and conjure images of that special spot for relaxing, basking in perfect weather, even indulging in an activity or two. Here are some of the classic summer escapes.

Welcome to the exclusive club that is the Hamptons. With no luxury hotels and only a handful of motels, you need a house if you want to vacation in this part of Long Island. So young wanna-be movers and shakers buy places in “shares,” where for a major chunk of change, they get the privilege of splitting a house with 20 strangers. Down the road will be the media moguls, big finance types and movie stars they’re hoping to meet when they all slather on sun screen to fight the rays on the area’s glamorous beaches. It’s still a scene right out of “Sex and the City.”
