Summer Games: Third Annual Merrill Minipipe Invitational - Jam Session
Desiree Melancon, Dustin Craven, Ozzy Henning, Scotty Arnold, Chad Otterstrom, Austen Sweetin, Garrett Warnick, Scott Blum, Alex “Littlest” Sherman, Chris Beresford, Brandon Cocard, Nate Farrell, Frank April, and more dropped into the ten-foot, digger-raked walls and put on quite the show for both judges and High Cascade campers.
In the past three years, the Drink Water Rat Race has become one of the most renowned banked slalom events of the season. Set in the High Cascade park on Mount Hood, Oregon, the course is complex and at times treacherous and draws an incredibly illustrious group of riders to the start gate. At the third annual Drink Water Rat Race, riders the likes of Gigi Ruf, Nicolas Muller, Lucas Debari, Devun Walsh, Iikka Backstrom, Blake Paul, Forest Bailey, Temple Cummins, Scott Blum, Zak Hale, Spencer O'Brien, Leanne Pelosi, and many more dropped into the berms and banks in attempt to garner either the fastest time or gain recognition through one of the many additional awards that were handed out that day.
Summer Games: Third Annual Merrill Minipipe Invitational
For the third summer in a row, the greatest mini-transition riders from around the globe made the trek to Mt. Hood for the Merrill Minipipe Invitational. Forty-four competitors joined the event’s creator, Bode Merrill in the High Cascade park in order to throw down on the ten-foot walls of the pristine pipe. After a two-run format early on followed by an afternoon jam session, the overall top three winners had been decided. Austen Sweetin came out on top, Red Gerard took second, and Chad Otterstrom took third in a podium that aptly represented the legendary, the up and coming, and the current state in snowboarding–all killing it, of course. Only at the MMPI.
