Afghan President Hamid Karzai dropped out of peace negotiations on Wednesday after U.S. officials said they still planned to meet with the Taliban in spite of an attack and incendiary message on a flag. Less than 24 hours after the talks were planned, Karzai's spokesman said, "There is a contradiction between what the U.S. government says and what it does."
