Chicago News Anchors Report 'Staged' Plane Cras...
A local news crew broadcasting out of Chicago's WGN took a minute during their Friday morning newscast to deliver the breaking news that a small plane had crashed on a busy highway in the Second City. Only after a few minutes of coverage did the anchors learn that the plane crash was staged for a television program that was filming in the area.
"Can you imagine, you're driving down King Drive and a plane just comes down in the middle of the road," asked WGN anchor Robin Baumgarten while covering what appears to be a devastating plane crash.
After a few minutes of vamping, the anchors appear to learn that the crash was staged for a television program. "Are you kidding me," Baumgarten asked. "They might want to tell the news folks when they're doing this and shutting down King Drive."
The pair reflected on their shock for several minutes after expressing some relief that there had been no actual plane crash. Later, they broadcast breaking news of a giant lizard-like creature wrecking havoc near Soldier Field.
