Inner Worlds of Carnivorous Plants
http://innerworlds.jic.ac.uk A journey through the Inner Worlds of carnivorous plants imaged with Optical Projection Tomography. The movie shows four examples of vessel-shaped leaves that evolved independently. In order of appearance they are: Albany pitcher (Cephalotus), tropical pitcher (Nepenthes), bladderwort suction traps (Utricularia), and American pitcher (Sarracenia). The images were generated as part of the Inner Worlds Project which uses latest imaging techniques to reveal the inner structure of organisms and is based on research carried out in Enrico Coen's group at the John Innes Centre http://rico-coen.jic.ac.uk/index.php/Main_Page. We aim to cover several topics, the first of which is the Inner World of Carnivorous Plants. Music from the Dead Sea Apes http://deadseaapes.wordpress.com/
