Petrol theft goes wrong
A daring and ultimately bungled fuel theft near Brisbane saw a woman tossed into the air and petrol pouring out of a broken bowser hose.
The dramatic incident, at the Mt Warren Caltex service station, seems to have been sparked by a staff member checking registration plates on the vehicle, which later turn out to be stolen.
With a woman still filling the vehicle, the driver accelerates away and the pump's hose flips her into the air.
The hose is torn out of the bowser leaving petrol to gush over the forecourt while the woman pulls the bowser handle out of the car and the vehicle drives off.
Logan District police, who have yet to make any arrests, said it was disconcerting the lengths to which offenders would go in stealing fuel and putting their lives and others at risk.
