Pigeons learn to use a computerised touchscreen
iPeck: Scientists find PIGEONS are capable of using a touchscreen in bizarre intelligence test (and they passed with flying colours)
Reseachers used a touchscreen to administer a common intelligence test for animals
Pigeons were able to complete the test by pecking at the screen
Researchers say birds have far more advanced problems solving skills.Pigeons have far better problem solving skills than previously thought - and can use a computer touchscreen, researchers have found.
Researchers at the University of Iowa found the birds were able to complete intelligence tests by choosing the correct 'string' on a touchscreen by pecking it with their beak.
The results show the birds are capable of making highly intelligent choices, sometimes with problem-solving skills to match.
