WebHRIYC Secretary and historian Brian Reid has assembled an inventory of yachts that number over 60. However, not all of these craft can sail today - only about 25 of them are in a state of repair (or restoration) to allow on-ice operation. The remainder are either structurally unsound or missing key components.

Originally named, "Eugene," the ice yacht Vixen was built in 1886 in what is now Chelsea and was the first successful lateen-rigged ice boat. The new rigging style allowed for even greater speed.
