Hi everyone, My photography blog shows pictures nicely horizontally and vertically on a computer, but the vertical pictures are too small in the mobile version of the site. Is there any code of another way to make them show bigger only on mobile devices? I tried creating a transparent image which overlays on tops of the markup and gave the transparent the same link, however, it does not close using the X so so i have to have it open in a new tab and hopefully people will know to close the tab but if there is a way to make a markdown do this or a work around, Im all for it. Hi all, For a couple of weeks now I've had an issue on my site where half the galleries fail to load & display the images that I placed there. The other half of my galleries show perfectly and without problems; they use the same layout (grid: strips). There is no 404 or other error message, the images simply don't load and the captions sit there by themselves. When I select "Edit gallery", all images are there and show with no problems. The link I've attached shows one of the pages with missing pictures; the "Antarctica" page, for example, shows with all pictures loading correctly. Thanks in advance for any help or pointers!

Hello! My website (allthethingsbyautumn.com) has password: allthethings On my homepage, I have 2 text boxes that say: 1. "Your guide to" and 2. "Living mindfully by limiting toxic load" that wrap over my main photo. Dependent on the width of the browser being used, the text goes over the photo in a way that is hard to read - see attached photo examples. Is there a way to group the text boxes with the photo box or essentially lock their relationship to each other so that this variability isn't possible and always looks like the wider width attached photo (with easier to read text) regardless of the browser width?

I had to change my header image to include new phone numbers, and when I uploaded the image- it sort of blew it out of proportion on the mobile viewing option. The old image worked fine for both desktop and mobile... but now i cannot get my image to "resize" so it properly fits the mobile view. Someone had commented that it would be better to replace the image to be clouds with the writing, but the owners of this website want it exactly like the image... help :(?

I volunteer at a small nonprofit history museum. We have thousands of old photographs that we want to make accessible on our new website in a "members-only" area. Users should be able to filter, sort, and search through the photos to find what they are looking for. Photos can also have historical information, i.e., time period, detailed description, etc. What is the best way to accomplish this goal? Can this be done in Squarespace, or is there a plug-in or third-party service that needs to be linked to our website?

My business offers kayak skills instruction and guiding services. We often take pictures and like to share them with participants. So far I'm using albums in Google Photos on my workspace account to do this. I like that I can just drop in the pics and I also like that I can let guests add their own pictures for sharing with the group. However, using Google Photos is also problematic. Number one is people often can't get access if they don't have an email service that Google gets along with. There are a few other issues as well, like maybe storage capacity issues in the future. Here's what I'd like to do: have a page on my website where participants on a trip can visit and download their pictures, or find a third party host site that lets me create easy to use shareable albums at low cost, or hear from this community about some other options I haven't considered. I prefer the first option and I'd be okay with some kind of a Squarespace "add-on" to do that. Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Used to be a thing on SquareSpace 7.0, but it was removed from 7.1 - God knows why. Does anyone have a good workaround to this issue? I have a portfolio comprised of photos and videos, and I wanted to create a unique gallery with my work as a sequence. Thanks,

I chose Squarespace to build my website and in essence base my online business because it advertised itself as a complete e-commerce solution and a high quality web hosting service. I am overall happy with Squarespace in terms of the ability to use templates to easily build websites and the ability to integrated with my suppliers and use extensions to enhance the capability of my site. I do however have one complaint. One of the disadvantages of using a templated website is the inordinate amount of JavaScript that needs to written to facilitate this. Squarespace JavaScript files are large and the result of this is a degradation in performance in terms of loading pages. This is particularly true on mobile devices, which in many cases are the most prevalent devices that access websites. Squarespace controls these files and as users we have no way to alter these files to improve their performance. I can certainly understand why this is the case. It would cause a tech support and maintenance nightmare for Squarespace. Another alternative offered by Squarespace is reduce the size of your images and to keep page sizes under 5MB. Since you can't reduce the size of the JavaScript files, the next best alternative is to reduce the size of the images. There are a variety of ways to do this such as using TinyIMG and other services to compress JPEG, GIF or PNG files. However, these solutions do not offer the best technology to maximize the reduction of image file size. There are file formats such as AVIF which offer the ability to compress image files to much smaller sizes than compressing JPEG, GIF and PNG files, and AVIF is a lossless file format which means that image quality does not suffer based on file size and is cross browser compatible with most browsers currently in use. For example I was able to take JPEG image file that was originally about 15MB import it into GIMP and reduce the size and resolution and get that file done to 1.14MB. While this a significant reduction in file size, its still a large file given Squarespace's best practices of keeping pages below 5MB. I was able to use TinyIMG and compress this image and get it down to 406KB. This is also a significant reduction, but there is room for improvement. I took the file that that was reduced to 406KB and converted it to the AVIF format with an online utility and the size of the AVIF file was 180KB. Having a fast loading website is a critical factor in an e-commerce website's ability to convert visitors into paying customer. As I have personally found, having a slow performing website can be the kiss of death in terms of having a viable conversion rate. I'd like to petition Squarespace to support the AVIF file for its hosted websites so that its customers can maximize the performance of their websites. Please join me! Thank You

Hello! I am trying to see what I did wrong in my code. I was working on my site and for some reason, the arrows disappeared and the summary block displays all funny and the images are not showing up properly. Would someone be willing to help me find out what I did wrong? Obviously if this can't be fixed, it makes Squarespace useless as a portfolio site platform.

Hi there, Is there a code for adjusting the homepage main photo position? (especially for mobile) What i mean is moving the photo to the right/left/top inside of the section without changing the height of the section. I am writing a blog post that includes a list of points and I would like to put a photograph at the side of one of the points mid-way through my list. I know that, in order to add a picture at the side of a writing block in a blog post, you have to first have an insert point and then click on the 'plus' button to add a new picture block. Once you have chosen a picture, you can click and drag the picture to the side of the writing below the insert point. The thing that I am struggling with is how to get an insert point to appear mid-way through a numbered list. I've tried breaking up the text block so that the 'plus' button appears for a new block mid-way through my numbered list but it then creates a bit of a weird gap between two of the numbers in my list and also restarts the numbers from one. I'm sure I can't be the only one who wants to put photographs beside a few items on a list but for some reason I have been unable to find the answer out online. I don't think I'm terrible with technology but this really has me stumped and very frustrated! Any advice would be much appreciated.

"Image Data Importing" is a feature you can select in the Advanced section of Settings. It's a very important feature that can save a lot of time by not having to manually enter Captions or Descriptions for images. This, for photographer galleries, is very important and a feature photographers will use extensively. While it's right there in the Advanced menu, it doesn't work and hasn't worked since November 2021. Support requests have been entered many times but this feature they offer has not been fixed. Not having this feature is definitely a deterrent to photographers or paint artists from using galleries in Squarespace for their websites. This club is in a unique position to show the support staff how important this is for us. If you are adding titles or descriptions to your image file metadata in Lightroom, for example, you should not need to add them manually again in your gallery on Squarespace. But we need enough people to request this repair from support so they get the message this is important for us. So please help . Thank you!!

I am using SquareSpace mobile app and Nevins template — the "photo gallery" icon is not functioning / responding to tap action. Thus, I cannot edit the photo gallery at all. I messaged SquareSpace a few days ago but there's just no response. This is my first time using this platform and the service is not great. Can anyone trouble shoot? Thanks!

Hello, I've created a page with a gallery block. I'm wondering if there is a way to get the photos to display one at a time and you can just scroll through them in mobile view. Right now it makes them quite small on the phone. You can click one open and then flip through them in a carousel fashion, but I hate that kind of functionality on the phone, plus there's no arrow indicator that you can do that. Greetings. Whenever I upload new photos to Squarespace, they automatically take on a location (under Settings/Location) that was a previous business address. Questions: 1. Where can I set the default address so that new photos will have the correct location? 2. Is it possible to globally update photos that have the old address? Thanks.

Hello, I am a photographer looking to solve a seemingly simple problem. My photos don't all share the same dimensions. I want to sell prints online and built out the Squarespace store however, on mobile when someone clicks on the product, they are shown the product in a square format (or any other pre-selected aspect ratio) when I want them to be able to see the entire photo as uploaded on the desktop version. Apparently, there is no option for this so I need to turn to code but have little experience in that. Please help!
