When the UN threatens sanctions against his country, the North African Republic of Wadiya, he has no choice but to come to New York City to address the UN Council. While here, General Aladeen is ritualistically stripped of his power by a rogue CIA official and cast out into the city of Manhattan, where he goes from ruthless dictator to being another face in the crowd. Along the way, he meets a woman named Zoey who runs an organic health food store, and runs into a borough of New York that is essentially full of the people he supposedly executed several years ago. Could Zoey be the key to him getting back into the game, or will Wadiya be stripped and sold to the highest bidding oil company?

Taking Woodstock presents a new angle on the true story of the climactic hippie music festival Woodstock that helped define and end the era of the Sixties, highlighting the huge impact new forms of music had on American culture. Taking Woodstock tells the story of the man who accidentally provided the location for Woodstock to happen. The man’s name was Elliot Timber, who is played by Demetri Martin. Elliot lives in Greenwich Village and dreams of becoming a prominent New York City interior designer, but before he can move forward and establish his career, he has to return home for the summer to help his parents save their motel. His parents, Jake and Sonia, own a hotel called the El Monaco located in the Catskills of New York. Their hotel is in shabby condition in drastic need of repairs and with few guests to provide funds for these repairs. Elliot forms a plan to save the hotel when he sees an advertisement in the newspaper about a high-profile concert that was scheduled to take place nearby in Wallkill, New York, but that lost its permit. Elliot plans to repair the hotel to livable conditions and get the permits to hold the concert in a nearby dairy farm pasture in White Lake, New Jersey, all while housing the staff of the Woodstock Ventures and the concert crew at the newly refurbished El Monaco. This is a giant feat that Elliot is basically taking on alone, since his parents aren’t much help. For example, his father’s idea of cleaning the pool is to pour a gallon of laundry bleach in the water. The story for Taking Woodstock has been translated to the screen from the memoir Taking Woodstock: A True Story of a Riot, a Concert, and a Life written by Elliot Timber and Tom Monte. Taking Woodstock was directed by Ang Lee, who also directed the Academy Award-winning films Brokeback Mountain and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

George Wade is the suave public face of the Manhattan-based Wade Corporation, a development firm that Lucy routinely opposes and whose true head is George's profit-oriented brother, Howard Wade. George, who has a reputation as a lady's man, has had as his legal counsel a series of beautiful female lawyers with questionable credentials, they who have more primarily acted as his casual sex partners. Needing a real lawyer, he offers Lucy the job of his legal counsel on a chance meeting. Despite warnings from her parents in working for the "enemy", Lucy, who has no intention of being the latest in his bed partners, accepts the job as she feels she can do more good from the inside, and as George, as part of the job offer, promises not to demolish a community center in a heritage building as part of a development project near her childhood Coney Island home where her parents still live. Although Lucy is able to effect the type of change she wanted from this position, she finds she cannot deal with George's expectations of her, namely being his primary confidante and advisor at all hours of the day and night, mostly about issues she considers frivolous. As such, she gives him two weeks notice, although she promises to help George find her replacement. As Lucy begins to review resumes, George himself unilaterally decides to hire June Carver, a fellow Harvardite, but who seems to have her sights set on George as both a boss and personal partner. As June begins to replace Lucy in seemingly all aspects of George's life, Lucy begins to realize that she herself has fallen for George. However, Lucy's feelings for George and her attempts to re-ingratiate herself into George's life are placed into jeopardy when she learns of a Wade Corporation decision against her basic sensibilities.

Guiding Light (known as The Guiding Light before 1975) is an American television soap opera. It is listed in Guinness World Records as the longest-running drama in television in American history, broadcast on CBS for 57 years from June 30, 1952, until September 18, 2009, overlapping a 19-year broadcast on radio from 1937 to 1956. With an uninterrupted 72 years of radio and television runs, Guiding Light is the longest running soap opera, ahead of General Hospital, and the fifth-longest running program in all of broadcast history; only the American country music radio program Grand Ole Opry (first broadcast in 1925), the BBC religious program The Daily Service (1928), the CBS religious program Music and the Spoken Word (1929), and the Norwegian children's radio program Lørdagsbarnetimen (1924-2010) have been on the air longer.
