A powerful, hated, and accursed warlock (Julian Sands) from 17th century America is preserved through burial rites and reanimated in the 20th century. He emerges in a foreign society that doesn't respect his power as an agent of the Devil. An equally-powerful witch-hunter Giles Redferne (Richard E. Grant) is also also bound, through magic, to locate the warlock where ever and whenever he may appear. Warlock is a collision between ancient sentiment and modern notions of sin, violence, sex, and superstition. The warlock awakes in a modern town seeking elements of an ancient text, the Grand Grimoire, that somehow will bestow upon him the revelation of the true name of God, and the consequent power to deconstruct creation. His hunter must avert all attempts at finalizing the mission while befriending and recruiting a few unlucky people, wondering why their town is being turned on-end. A quiet and pastoral rural atmosphere is transformed through the evil intent of a powerful agent of Satan let loose in a time where most people cannot recognize his maligned intent. Golden fields, livestock, superstition, lore, and ancient rites collide in a centuries-old chase that puts a few modern characters in the deadly wake of the oldest conflict imaginable.

"Greed is Good." This is the credo of the aptly named Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas), the antihero of Oliver Stone's Wall Street. Gekko, a high-rolling corporate raider, is idolized by young-and-hungry broker Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen). Inveigling himself into Gekko's inner circle, Fox quickly learns to rape, murder and bury his sense of ethics. Only when Gekko's wheeling and dealing causes a near-tragedy on a personal level does Fox "reform"-though his means of destroying Gekko are every bit as underhanded as his previous activities on the trading floor. Director Stone, who co-wrote Wall Street with Stanley Weiser, has claimed that the film was prompted by the callous treatment afforded his stockbroker father after 50 years in the business; this may be why the film's most compelling scenes are those between Bud Fox and his airline mechanic father (played by Charlie Sheen's real-life dad Martin).

The Colbys revolves around another wealthy, upper-class family, who are relatives by marriage of the Carringtons of Dynasty and who own a large multi-national corporation. Intended to surpass its predecessor in opulence, the series' producers were handed an immensely high budget for the era and cast a handful of well-known movie stars among its leads, including Charlton Heston, Barbara Stanwyck, Katharine Ross and Ricardo Montalban. Beacon Hill was considered to be an Americanized version of the British TV series, Upstairs Downstairs. While Beacon Hill debuted to monster ratings, the show dwindled and was cancelled after only 6 episodes, making it one of the most monumental flops in TV drama. The premise was good enough though: a rich and powerful family, the Lassiters, who lived on Boston's fashionable Beacon Hill (technically, Louisburg Square, Boston's answer to Belgravia in London) and their rambunctious servants. The idea was a good one, but it was not a winner like Upstairs Downstairs. After six episodes, the show was cancelled, but most of the actors went on to bigger things anyway!
