In Mexico, Pepe is the good-natured ranch foreman of Sr. Rodriguez. Pepe's pride and joy is Don Juan, a magnificent white stud stallion that he raised from a colt for Sr. Rodriguez and that he refers to as his "son". As Sr. Rodriguez has decided to sell Don Juan at auction, Pepe enacts a plan to dissuade any interested buyers so that he can buy Don Juan himself. The plan doesn't work, as Don Juan is sold to washed-up Hollywood movie director Ted Holt - his current Hollywood status due to alcohol over-consumption - who wants to use Don Juan for his comeback project to be shot in Mexico with an all-Mexican cast except for an American female lead. Pepe decides to head to Hollywood and earn lots of money so that he can buy Don Juan and bring him back to Mexico. In Hollywood, Pepe gets into one misadventure after another with a cavalcade of Hollywood movie stars, those misadventures based largely on Pepe's limited grasp of the English language, he often taking what is said to him in their literal meaning. Pepe does eventually locate Holt, who hires Pepe "for free" to handle Don Juan. Pepe also meets Suzie Murphy, a coffee house waitress and performer, who believes Hollywood has given her parents a raw deal on their lives, they who worked hard but remained on the lowest rung of the studio food chain for their entire careers. As such, she is an angry young woman with a tough exterior, who has no desire to be in the movie business. Despite Holt realizing that Suzie's exterior is all a front, he does end up hiring her as the lead for the movie, which he is able to get off the ground on a deal made with Edward G. Robinson. As Pepe is required to travel to Las Vegas and back to Mexico for filming, Pepe falls in love with Suzie, the affection which he slowly believes is returned. But Holt may ultimately get in the way of Pepe's dreams with Suzie, and perhaps his permanent reunion with Don Juan.

When this movie is made in …
When this movie is made in 1956, one could circumnavigate the globe in a little less than two days. When Jules Verne wrote the story "Around the World in Eighty Days" in 1872, he predicted that one day man could accomplish the task in eighty hours, but which most considered folly to do in eighty days in current times, that is except for people like Englishman Phileas Fogg, a regimented man who believed all it would take is exacting work, the skills he possesses. He just has to make sure a train's schedule meets the required sailing schedule which meets the required coach schedule and so on. As such, he takes up what ends up being the highly publicized twenty thousand pounds sterling wager from his fellow members at the London Reform Club to do so, losing the bet which would ruin him financially. Along for the ride is Fogg's new, loyal and devoted valet, the recently arrived Latin immigrant, Passepartout, who possesses unusual skills which could be major assets, but whose all consuming thoughts on the opposite sex could take away his focus from the task at hand. Although Fogg has accounted for certain transportation delays, he may not account for cultural peccadilloes he may encounter along the way which could also cause delays. He is also unaware of the true reason a man name Fix is following them, he who could also derail Fogg's task permanently. As Fogg and Passepartout proceed on their journey, they get into one misadventure after another. Ultimately, Fogg may find other things in life more important than winning the bet.

The Gal Who Took the West

In 1890s Arizona, General …
In 1890s Arizona, General Michael O'Hara, the O'Hara family patriarch, builds an opera house and sends for an opera singer from the East. Unknown to everyone, the Eastern theatrical agent substitutes a real but unattractive opera singer for his own niece who is stunningly beautiful but is no opera singer. Her name is Lillian Marlowe and her singing is more vaudevillian and saloon-like rather than operatic. The O'Hara family owns much of the land and cattle in the region. However, the two nephews of General Michael O'Hara, Lee and Grant, do not get along. Only one of them stands to inherit the O'Hara fortune, once the General passes away. The whole region fears a bloody feud between the two young cousins after the eventual passing of the family patriarch. To make matters worse, when the attractive opera singer from the East arrives in town, to fulfill her singing contract with the O'Hara opera house, the two young O'Haras fall in-love with her. Unfortunately, pretty Lillian Marlowe also falls in-love with Lee and Grant O'Hara and cannot make-up her mind which one she wants. Both O'Hara cousins are handsome, romantic, quick with the gun, and rich. A poor Eastern girl's dream come true. The two young O'Hara cousins start a feud over Lillian. The family patriarch, General Michael O'Hara, tries his best to keep his nephews from killing one another. On occasion, the old General has to resort to using his cavalry troops to keep Lee and Grant apart. The old man even tries to bribe Lillian with money to force her to leave town and return home back East but she refuses. Taking turns, Lee and Grant kidnap Lillian and propose marriage to her. Lillian remains vague and undecided. But with tension escalating between Lee and Grant, aided by their respective gunfighter crews, Lillian has to act. She promises to announce her final choice for husband, at a family meeting at the O'Hara ranch. The patriarch is also on hand to mediate between Lee and Grant. On arrival, Lee and Grant are deprived of their guns by the worried patriarch. However, the negotiation degenerates into a fistfight. Pretty Lillian saves the day by playing a little trick on her suitors.

Fortysomething, blue blooded Boston born and bred, Harvard educated businessman Harry Pulham leads a regimented, routinized life with his wife, the former Kay Motford, who he's known since childhood. Harry outwardly believes he is all the more happy because of the way his life is, which was somewhat predetermined as part of his upbringing. This day, he receives two telephone calls which make him examine his life. The first is from Bo-Jo Brown, a Harvard colleague who is heading a twenty-five year reunion committee, with Harry foisted into the job of writing attendee biographies, which is to include his own. The second is from Marvin Myles, a former work colleague from his time over twenty years ago at the J.T. Bullard Advertising Agency in New York City, that job which Harry got from his more liberally minded Harvard friend Bill King. The result of these two telephone calls makes Harry wonder if he is happy, if he is or ever was in love with Kay, and if he never was if he would have been much happier if he stayed in New York with the girl he let get away, she, originally from humble means, who was not willing to live what she saw as Harry's blue blooded life in Boston. In the process, Harry will also find if he can turn back the clock twenty years or if there is a way to move forward to achieve that happiness which he now realizes is missing from his life.
