Oliver's Story is the sequel to Love Story, and both movies are based on books by Erich Segal. The story opens with Oliver Barrett struggling to come to terms with the death of his young wife. His grief is alienating everyone he comes in contact with, and his family is urging him to move on with his life. In addition, some of his political views put him at odds with the senior partners at his law firm. However, Oliver does begin to find love again with a young heiress named Marcie Bonwit. Oliver feels great affection for Marcie, and she returns his feelings. However, Jenny's ghost seems to hover over their budding romance. This, of course, causes a great deal of tension as their relationship progresses to a more intimate level.
