Charley Varrick (Walter Matthau) is a small time crook with a big plan in this offbeat crime thriller. Varrick and his partner, Harman Sullivan (Andrew Robinson), make a plan to rob a small bank in New Mexico. Things get crazy for the pair when they learn that rather than the small payday they expected, their haul is upwards of 750,000 dollars. It turns out the bank is a money laundering front for several very well connected mobsters. Before the panicked Charlie and Harman are able to return the stolen money, they are beset upon by an insane hit man named Molly, played by Joe Don Baker. The Two must outwit the sadistic Molly while attempting to maneuver out of the clutches of both the angry mobsters and the police. This film was directed by Don Siegel and it was written by Howard Rodman, Dean Riesner, and John H. Reese.
