The Marty Stuart Show

Airing twice weekly on RFD …
Airing twice weekly on RFD since its debut in 2008, The Marty Stuart Show highlights the best of new and classic country music, showcasing the best in blue grass with featuring appearances by Mel Tillis, Jimmy Dickens, John Anderson, and Charley Pride to only name a few. Not to mention, you'll see wonderful performances from Marty himself, his wife, Connie Smith, banjoist Leroy Troy, and of course Marty's band, The Fabulous Superlatives. Marty had begun his music career at the age of 14; by 22 he was a member of Johnny Cash's band, and in the 90's he won 4 Grammies and dominated Country's top ten with a string of classics such as "Hillbilly Rock," "Burn Me Down," and "This One's Gonna Hurt You." The production is laid back and appeals to a large audience of Country fans. Admittedly, there is a bias toward the Mountain/Bluegrass country, but the music is still wonderful and sticks to its veins and roots. You'll reminisce back on the early days of country classics such as Flatt and Scruggs, Hee Haw, and the Porter Wagoner Show.

King of the Hill is an American animated sitcom created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels for the Fox Broadcasting Company that ran from January 12, 1997, to May 6, 2010. It centers on the Hills, a middle-class American family in the fictional city of Arlen, Texas. Patriarch and main character Hank Hill, who works as assistant manager at Strickland Propane, is the everyman and general protagonist of the series. His modest conservative views and biases often clash with that of his wife, Peggy; his son, Bobby; his father, Cotton; his niece, Luanne; his boss, Buck Strickland; and his neighbor, Kahn. Hank is friends with other residents on his block, especially Bill Dauterive, Dale Gribble, and Jeff Boomhauer, all of whom he has known since elementary school. It attempts to maintain a realistic approach, seeking humor in the conventional and mundane aspects of everyday life.

‘Heartworn Highways’ is a film from James Szalapski, documentary filmmaker. There are several performances from young and up and coming country singers including Townes Van Zandt, the Charlie Daniels Band, Gamble Rogers, David Allan Coe, Guy Clark, Steve Earle and many others. These performers are shown in their rough stages, still outside the Nashville establishment and pushing for a bigger appreciation of the roots of Nashville songwriting. Van Zandt, a new singer/songwriter, famous for such tunes as “If You Needed Me” and "Pancho & Lefty,” emerged as one of Nashville’s most acclaimed songwriters, but this film takes us to his roots before he became famous. The film also shows the talents of singer/songwriter Gamble Rogers in a light hearted night club performance. Guy Clark rambles about his kindle knife in an array of songs, written by the maestro himself and performed in his kitchen. David Allan Coe, who is an outlaw in his own right, helped bring the film a little bit of campy fun with his concert at a prison and his talking about a criminal past. The Charlie Daniels Band is on fire while getting ready for a big show. There are other musicians involved in the film including a fairly unknown Rodney Crowell, Steve Earle and Steve Young . Many of these musicians appear at a party held at Clark’s house. It really takes the music fan back to what real country music was like, and how the Americana brand of music really got its name. The film was shot in the mid-seventies, though not officially released until 1981. By the time of its release, many of the singer/songwriters had already made a statement to the country through their music.
