As Bruce is making his speech, the Joker and his band of villains break in and steal the award, as well as all the money and gems. Batman arrives and is able to stop everyone except the Joker. The Joker who escapes on his boat, but Robin's helicopter picks up Batman and they chase after him. When the rope holding Batman is broken, he calls in the Batwing and is able to defeat the Joker. In the mean time, Lex Luthor is running for president, but his poll figures are not so good. Lex finds out that the Joker knows how to produce Kryptonite, and can make a gas that makes people love him, which will help Luthor is hoping will help him win the election and defeat Superman. Lex helps break Joker out of Arkham Asylum and they team up to take on Gotham. Batman must call on those in the Justice League in order to defeat Lex Luthor and the Joker.

He is nicknamed "Deuce" by his fellow players as the two finger signal is the catcher's sign to throw a curve ball, Coop's favorite and most killer pitch. But in the early going, Coop demonstrates that he chokes under pressure as throwing his famous curve ball usually results in an out-of-the-park home run. Kirby, the son of the team owner, purchases a chimpanzee as the team mascot, who the team members name Ed Sullivan. The coach, Chubb, "decides" that Ed will room with Coop, a move not without ulterior motives. Ed ends up being an overgrown kid in mentality, which makes him a pain for Coop to manage, leading to one misadventure after another for the pair. Ed not only is a fan of baseball, but has a rocket arm of his own. As such, Chubb also decides to use Ed as a player at third base, a move which galvanizes the team on their march toward the pennant. But when something happens to Ed, Coop has to try to save him, his friend and roommate, which may jeopardize his major league prospects. Through it all, Coop begins a romance with his next door neighbor, single mom Lydia, whose precocious adolescent daughter Lizzie, who along with Ed, seems know what's better for Lydia and Coop than they do.

For its first decade, Johnny Carson's The Tonight Show was based at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York City, with some episodes recorded at NBC's West Coast studios in Burbank, California; on May 1, 1972, the show moved to Burbank as its main venue and remained there exclusively after May 1973 until Carson's retirement. In 2002, The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson was ranked No. 12 on TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time, and in 2013 it was ranked No. 22 on their list of 60 Best Series.
