There is harmony in The Café until it is accidentally discovered …
There is harmony in The Café until it is accidentally discovered that lovely Mary has had a fortune left her, whereupon Beery, the proprietor, Trask and Murray, two entertainers, all race to her home with the idea of marrying her. Now it chances that Beery is married already, but in order to get the money he hires a crook to pose as a minister, planning to get the fortune through a fake marriage. He nearly succeeds. The minister arrives promptly, however, as does Trask, who, finding the parson at hand, bribes him to double cross Beery and marry him (Trask) to Mary. Trask, though, believes it to be a wedding on the square. Then ensues a sequence of the funniest, rapid fire complications imaginable. "You're not married," becomes the slogan of everybody, including the police force. Once the bogus status of the minister has been established, there is a wild chase after the couple, who, in the meantime, have secured a nice little honeymoon flat. Before they are located, however, the newlyweds have a scrap so that the honeymoon flat is vacant when Charlie Murray arrives. He, too, gets into trouble and, indeed, is so lit up he does not know he is in the wrong room and he's in the bathroom in his pajamas when Mary arrives. Naturally it doesn't look good to "hubby" when he appears on the scene and he isn't a bit slow in unlimbering his trusty shooting iron. And into the melee somehow comes mother-in-law, the police and a bunch of thoroughly irate citizens of the ultra-respectable type, whom the police have routed out through mistaken identity. The chase that follows is a scream and all through it one observes apartments on whose doors marriage licenses are nailed, proof of the widespread havoc caused by Beery's villainy. Meanwhile, however, a real parson arrives and the principals again assemble for a real wedding which is about to take place, when it is learned that no fortune is coming to Mary. Right away Trask gets cold feet, Beery being already out of the running, but noble Charlie Murray steps to the front. "I love, you for yourself alone," he chortles, and they are made one, only to learn that the act has, after all, brought Mary her fortune.

The deer season opens in …
The deer season opens in Deerfoot, Colorado, on the fifteenth of August, and the run promises to be heavy. Lord Charles Raleigh, an English tenderfoot, comes westward to bag, if possible, some of the game. He arrives in Deerfoot and is directed to Mrs. Thatcher's house for board. On the way he passes Louise, the daughter of the landlady, and there is a mutual attraction. Louise, on returning from town, finds several cowboys who are enjoying their own fun at the expense of the monocle worn by the Englishman. After getting established in his boarding house, his Lordship produces a very expensive gun and goes out to practice. His aim is anything but exact, and he inadvertently shoots the milk bucket from the hand of Mr. Thatcher, who forthwith causes his Lordship to do a merry tango to the tune of a 44. The cowboys on a lark, dress one of their number in a deer's head and skin, conceal him in the woods. His Lordship comes through, he sees the antlers and fires. His surprise is great when, instead of falling, the deer does a merry little jig. He fires again, and this time the supposedly enraged deer charges his Lordship, driving him to the branches of a tree. Louise has overheard the plot to play a joke on the Englishman and goes out in search of him; she finds him treed by a fierce deer and taking her own rifle she clips the ear from the supposed deer, who beats a hasty retreat leaving horns and skin behind. Louise rescues his Lordship and decides that he shall not go back gameless. Putting the skin and horns around herself she is carried into camp on the shoulders of the Englishman. As the cowboys rush up to see his trophy, Louise emerges and laughingly tells the cowboys that the tenderfoot has bagged the first "dear."

Miss Charity Prim, principal of a select school for young ladies, decides to take five of her pupils on a vacation. She writes a letter notifying the local hotel keeper that she will arrive by auto. She arrives with her charges and is met at the hotel by a deluge of cowboys, whom she chases away. Miss Prim sees Hiram, the proprietor, and her maidenly heart flutters. The next day the girls are invited to attend a dance and, fearful of their chaperone, they attire themselves in the chaps and clothes of the cowboys. That evening Hiram invites Miss Prim to attend the same dance. She accepts and on the way to the festivities, sees what she supposes to be a bunch of cowboys, and most fearful that they will disclose the fact of her going to the dance to the girls, she starts back to the hotel. The girls seeing her and fearful that they will be disclosed in their disguise, also hie themselves back to the hotel. Louis, whose boots are too large, cannot run fast and comes face to face with the chaperone. She assumes the attitude of a scarecrow, and the chaperone and Hiram seeing the scarecrow, suddenly have an idea. The chaperone will disguise herself as the scarecrow and thus get back to the hotel. As they are about to remove the coat from the supposed scarecrow, it suddenly becomes animated and dashes away through the field. Meanwhile the girls at the hotel are giving an impromptu party to the cowboys. Louise arrives breathless from her run and joins the party. The chaperone arrives and hearing the confusion enters the girls' room and orders the cowboys to leave at once. Louise, donning the garb of the scarecrow, gains the old lady's consent to continue the party. Shoving her into a seat, she gives her part of the feed. She gets Hiram and leads him into the room, and sits him beside the blushing chaperone.

Ike is caught in the act of making love to Susie, the ranchman's daughter. He is kicked from the house with instructions to remain in the cowboy's quarters. Later Ike receives a letter from his mother informing him that his father has died and left her fifty thousand dollars in debt. After reading the letter Ike tears it in half and drops half of it accidentally on the ground. Part of the letter is found by Susie's father. Thinking that Ike is rich the old man decides to have Susie and Ike get married. They arrange to live in the house, and Ike is more than surprised when the old man tells him that he is going to take him to town and buy him a new suit. While the pair are gone, an old lady, looking for another ranch, arrives and is mistaken for Ike's mother. When Ike returns from town and goes to his room he finds some woman's clothes. Susie, by mistake, has placed the clothes of Ike's supposed mother there. As a joke Ike puts on the night cap and gown and plunges into bed just as Susie comes in. Susie imagines the old lady is sick and proceeds to administer castor oil. Many amusing incidents follow, ending up when Ike is discovered and captured after a chase and made to confess that he is fifty thousand dollars in debt instead of being rich. The old man pulls the night cap over Ike's head and holds him under the pump while the old lady pumps a stream of water on his head.

Recalling his own experience, the little good left in him rises to the surface and asserts itself. Harry appears and knocks the glass from Joe's hand. A terrific fight ensues, during which Harry vanquishes Joe, leaving him insensible. Harry leads her through the crowded café and bids her go home. Six months later we find Harry surrounded by a gang of toughs, who plan to rob the broker's safe. Harry's pleadings to be counted out are useless; they force him to accompany them. Harry is stunned by the sight he has been forced to witness, and although he has taken no direct part in the crime, he fully realizes how impossible it would be to convince others of his innocence, Rushing from the place, he boards a freight train and soon is on his way to "don't care where." Time passes. Joe and Lucille, happily married, leave for the west. Two years later Joe becomes sheriff of his county. Living the life of a hunted criminal, Harry finally succumbs to conscience. In the shadow of a sheriff's office, he concludes to give himself up, regardless of the consequences. He rushes inside, but before he can say a word, finds himself face to face with Joe, who meets him with outstretched hands, grateful for the lesson Harry taught him in the café years before. Joe finally makes him his deputy. Just as Harry is sworn in and Joe is congratulating him, a telegram is received from the sheriff at Chicago saying, "Slick Pete, wanted for complicity in diamond robbery two years ago, traced to your locality, etc." Joe hands the telegram to Harry, wishing him success on his first case, and giving him handcuffs to secure his prisoner. An hour later Harry enters with the handcuffs on his own wrists. Joe absolves Harry from all blame, then wires Chicago, "Slick Pete died here yesterday." Eloise Brandon rides over the hills to her chum's home, Margaret Dale, to inform her that brother Jack is coming home from college, that he will arrive that day and is bringing with him two college chums. As Margaret was very much in love with Eloise's brother, she readily consented to ride back with her to meet the boys. One of the boys falls in love with Jack's sister, much to the disgust of Eloise, as Willie was somewhat of a scrimp. The following day they start out for the picnic grove and pass by a haunted house. Eloise explains to the boys that the house is haunted, and she notices that Willie is very nervous. The next time he proposes, which happens every two or three hours, she tells him that if he will spend the night in the haunted house she will consider his proposal. This almost stumps Willie, but he promises to do so, and in the early evening he bids Eloise a farewell and hikes for the haunted house. The girls and boys are watching him, and decide to follow with the intention of playing a few ghostly tricks. Mrs. Murphy, the cook, is a somnambulist, and during her semi-conscious state she has been in the habit of visiting the haunted house. The peculiar happenings in the haunted house on this fateful occasion was such that it stirred up the village to a state of frenzy, the constable and his posse reaping some of the benefits after sharing in the fright. The two girls and the three boys land in jail and a hurried call is sent for father. He rushes to the sheriff's office, fines are paid and they then hike for the automobile, leaving Willie and Mrs. Murphy to walk home together.
