In an unidentified airplane flying over the ocean in which six aliens are huddled, alien-smugglers Frank Barden and Andrew Sleete are trying to evade a government pursuit plane. They dump the screaming "evidence" into the sea. Escaping pursuit, they later approach wealthy merchant Quan Lin and demand he take some aliens off of their hands. They kill him when he refuses. Lan Ying Lin, his daughter, goes to wealthy society matron Mrs. Mary Hunt for help. She introduces her to an inspector and Kim Lee, a government agent. Unknown to all, Mrs. Hunt is the power behind the smuggling ring. Turning detective to catch her father's killers, Lan Ying Lin finds herself on a remote island where she takes a job as a dancer in a honky-tonk operated by Otto Hartman, and discovers the island resort is a blind for an alien receiving station. She gets the evidence on Hartman and flees the island with agent Lee, disguised as a man, in the hold of the smuggling vessel. They are discovered by the ship's captain who radios for a sea plane. The sixth of the Hopalong Cassidy films, with the story source credited to Clarence E. Mulford's "Mesquite Jenkins, Tumbleweed", finds Hopalong Cassidy and his young pal, Johnny Nelson, leaving their Bar 20 home range to answer a letter offering them jobs on the Tumbling-L Ranch of Big John Trumbull near Yucca. Before they arrive in town, they save an old wrangler named Windy from drowning, who has been fired on from ambush as he was delivering a valuable stud bull to the depot. Windy, whose sole trusted weapon is a blacksnake whip, tells them he works for the Three-J Ranch adjoining Trumbull's spread. Hoppy and Johnny soon learn that Trumbull's outfit isn't the kind they want to work for, turn down the job offer, and take work with the Three-J, operated by easterner Jim Jordan and his sister Sally. Jordan is planning on fencing in his grazing land, but Trunbull swears this won't happen because, unknown to the other ranchers, Trumbull's men have been driving rustled cattle through a pass on the Jordan land. Hoppy and Johnny aid Jordan in getting his fence up, while Trumbull's men first try to stop them by gun warfare and then by starting a stampede of rustled cattle toward the narrow pass where the fence is being erected. Hoppy dynamites a dam, releases a torrent of water, and then succeeds in turning back the herd on the rustlers. The troubles at the Three-J are over and Hoppy and Johnny head back to the Bar 20.

Quite possibly the most-recycled B-western plot in which a disgraced (by a ruse)a lawman crosses the border in order to get in with an outlaw gang and trick them back across the border where they can be legally captured and arrested. Columbia also made this RCMP version as "North of the Yukon" with Charles Starrett and again (although the Mountie stayed on the Canadian side of the border)as "Rider's of the Northwest Mounted." Most of the time the hero was a Texas Ranger going south to Mexico instead of a Mountie going south to the U.S. The wonder is that once in a while they didn't make the hero a Mexican Rurale going "north" into Texas or an American lawman going north into Canada, but 'south' seemed to be the only direction the Columbia writers could work with. In this one RCMP Tim Barry (Buck Jones, who also made two Texas Rangers versions of this one), quits the RCMP (as a ruse)to cross the border from Canada to the U.S. to avenge the death of his Mountie brother at the hands of a gang led by Conyda (Fred Kohler.) Buck seems more at home after he crosses the border, gets into his regular western costume and gunbelt, and sheds the RCMP uniform equipped with a gun with a string attached. Lona Andre, just entering her too-much-makeup-is-never-enough phase,is on hand displaying her attributes wearing a great pair of too-tight Levis.
