Pastor Mattew is well known and highly regarded by the people of his area. He is liked for his character, his friendly nature and his ideas about upholding family values. Many people in the community regard the Winkler family as a model family to be emulated. Very early one morning, the Winkler daughters hear a loud explosive sound in their home. Their mother immediately asks them to get in her car and she drives off. The girls wonder what may have happened to their father. Mary however, does not tell them anything. Some curious neighbors hear the sound and decide to go to the Winkler home. They get there and find Pastor Mattew lying on the floor dead. The authorities start a search for Mary and her daughters. They find them in Mary’s car with a shotgun in her possession. The shotgun later turns out to be the murder weapon. While at the station, Mary accepts that she shot her husband. The whole community as well as family members are shocked to learn that. Mary refuses to say anything negative about her dead husband. But her lawyer advises her to tell the whole truth. She had never told anyone about it because she was protecting her husband’s public image as a pastor. Mattew on his part always threatened to kill her if she revealed his actions to anyone. Mary then goes on and narrates everything about her abusive relationship with her husband through the years including the events that led to his death that morning. Her intention was to threaten him with the shotgun so stop abusing her but she mistakenly pulled the trigger and killed him. She was declared not guilty by the court.
